All employees working in the store report to the store manager. A atore manager typically reports to a district ar area manager, but in smaller businesses, may report directly to the store 's owner. In some stores (typically big box retailers), a store manager may called a General Manager or Store Director&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Roles and Responbilities&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Responsibilities ofa store manager may include :&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Human resources, specifically : recruiting, training and development, performance management, payroll, and schedule workplace scheduling&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Store Business operations, including managing profit facility management, safety and security, loss prevention (also called shrinkage), and banking&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Product management, including ordering, receiving, price changes, andhandling damaged product&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sales&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;The store manager may also be required to meet monthly, quarterly, or annual sales goal. This may be achieved by setting goals, holding contents for employees, or offering sales promotions. He orshe may also receive incentive tied to the financial performance ofthe store over a specific time period.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Customer Service&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;The store manager hasthe final say in matter ofcustomer service. he orshe receives unsolicited feedback from customer, and may be asked to intervence in confrontations between customer and employees. The store manager may also make exceptions to store policies, but in most cases is required to enforce set by the company that owns the store.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Safety and security&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;The store manager is the primary keyholder of the store and may called to the store before, during, or after business hours in the event of an emergency. He or she is also responsible for the safety of all customer and employees on store premises. It is incumbent upon the store manager to set the overall tone (morale) in the store by acting with integrity andtreating customer and employees respectfully.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Division ofresponsibility&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;A store manager may have several subordinates within the hierarchy of the store to whom he or she can delegate management-level responbility. These employees are sometimes called assistant managers, supervisors, keyholders, shift leads, or leads&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Quality and level of staffing&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;The store manager is responsible for the quality ofstaff in the store, heshould train them to a level where the staff can handle the customer very easily, heshuld see that the staff should be always cheerful and eager to help cunsomer. He or she should also make sure that the staff is well equipt with all the information of the product they are selling.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Store layout and visual merchandise display&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;The store manager should do visual merchandise according to the layout ofstore. He or she should visualize whats the best for his store, visual merchandising has an importan part in selling of a product. He should categories the store into three regions primary, secondary and tertiary. Primary he should put all his new arrivals and best offering in this region. Secondary he should put stuffslike the basic stuff or to say the core products.
